Hector Rodriguez is a 1st Grade Detective with the New York City Police Department. He has served in the NYPD for 20 years and is currently assigned to the Major Case Squad.

As a member of the elite Major Case Squad, Detective Rodriguez investigates burglaries, robberies, grand larcenies, art fraud, theft of antiquities and religious artifacts. Det. Rodriguez is the lead investigator for all Art related cases for the New York City.

In 1998, Detective Rodriguez began his career as a Police Officer in the 44th Precinct in the Bronx which was one of the most violent precincts in the city at that time.  He was then transferred to 43rd Precinct as part of a pilot program known as “Tracer”.  When the program ended He stayed in the 43 Precinct and joined the Anti-Crime Team.

He then joined the ranks of one of the city’s most elite units, Street Crime.  The Street Crime Unit made up just 1% of the police department personnel and 25% of all gun arrests for the entire City.  A few years later he was promoted to Detective and reassigned to the 43rd Precinct Robbery Squad.  While there, the 43rd Precinct Robbery Squad led the city in arrests among all the robbery squads in the city.

Det. Rodriguez was recruited to join a newly created unit, the Financial Crime Task Force (FCTF) where he worked for seven years. During his last two years at FCTF, Det. Rodriguez was the lead detective on a wire tape investigation that led to the arrest of 60 individuals, 15 of them violent gang members.

Detective Rodriguez then transferred to his current assignment with the Major Case Squad, where he has worked for seven years.  The Major Case Squad investigates bank robberies, kidnappings, hijackings, high value commercial burglaries, art related thefts, and the murder of Police Officers, as well as sensitive cases deemed a priority by the Chief of Detectives.  Since his assignment to the Major Case Squad Detective Rodriguez has been entrusted with some of New York City’s most high profile cases, including the homicide of Patrolman Phil Cardillo and the Son of Saul serial killer investigation.
