My Name Is Petrosino - NYFA

THE HOST

MY NAME IS PETROSINO offers a multi-dimensional approach to Petrosino’s story, combining a deeply personal journey with historical context, investigation, and cultural exploration. And it all starts with our host, Anthony Giacchino. Preserving Petrosino’s story has been a passion project of Giacchino’s since 2005, when he first read about the detective on a tiny marker in a small Manhattan park. Giacchino was surprised he had never heard of him and promptly went to the New York Public Library, where he spent hours scrolling through old newspaper articles in an attempt to discover more. As the printouts of the assassinated detective’s adventures filled his research binders, Giacchino couldn’t help but wonder why the memory of this man had virtually been forgotten. This question led Giacchino on a 19-year mission to research and preserve Joe Petrosino’s story. A granddaughter’s trust, a museum, and the upheaval of Hurricane Sandy become integral chapters in this captivating podcast. Giacchino’s passion becomes infectious, guiding listeners on a compelling odyssey from the streets of New York’s Little Italy to the heart of Palermo, Sicily.
